Operation Kitty Rescue - Poopy cats

Of the girls that came up yesterday we have two we were very worried about, Poopy and Longhair (yes, very descriptive names but they are said with affection LOL).  Poopy is emaciated, covered in poo, has the runs and is ravenously hungry.  Oh and terrified.  Longhair is really matted and being a longhair she has collected up a lot of Poopy's messy poop along with some of her own.  She is in a terrible state. 

I have my own busy beauty salon and Friday is always a huge day so I couldnt get them to the vets.  Carole has just had her knee replaced so she cant drive.  So I was so worried about how to get these cats seen to when Kirsty came to the rescue.  She has managed to get them both to her vets for us.  They have had to sedate them to examine them as they are so scared.  I am just waiting to hear how bad they are and what needs to be done to get them healthy.  Poopy has a home lined up so we want to get her well again ASAP.

And just to add insult to injury there was supposed to be some food and litter sent from the breeder of these poor babies to the lady who had the cats.  She drove quite a distance to collect it and it wasnt there anymore.  Not totally sure what happened but surely they could have told her before she drove all that way.  Nothing suprises me about them anymore though.  Grrrrrr. 

And big thanks to Kathy who came and collected the two Cat Haven crates I picked up from Shelly this morning to take back to the Cat Haven.  I cannot thank her enough.  I only met her last Sunday and she is an amazing lady to do so much running around for us. 

So now we just need to get those two cats up to Perth and into care, rehome the cats Cathy and Carole have and help Shelly get the six cats she has ready to go to new homes.  Still a lot to do but compared to twenty terrified, poo covered cats cramped into two bunny hutches I think we are making progress.

Operation Kitty Rescue - Oops, two more

There is still two cats in Bunbury that need to be rescued. There is the boy that ran off and got recaptured as well as a girl we didn't even know had jumped out. I thought we were missing one tabby girl when we were trying to count them but there are a couple that look the same and they are great at hiding.

The big problem is Raquel needs the space they are in for the rabbits. They are currently at risk from foxes in open pens.

So today's task is to find transport for them and foster homes as we don't have a place for a boy and the girl may not go in with the other girls anymore. They are not desexed yet so we can't put them in one pen.

Operation Kitty Rescue - So tired!

Hi everyone.  I know people are waiting for updates about the cats but I am pretty exhausted so here is just a quick one for you.

Cathy drove down to Bunbury and got all the remaining cats as Raquel has a rabbit sanctuary and she has to clean out the hutches for an influx of little furries she is expecting from a rescue any day now.  Raquel got severely scratched trying to box the cats up as they were so scared.  Her hand may need stiches and she definately will need some antibiotics.  You can imagine how distressing it was for the girls and for the cats but it had to happen to get them to us.  Kathy drove them all back up to Carole's house.  I took off half a day from my business and went out to meet her and sort out who was going where. 

We had four boys and six girls plus two we already had.  My friend Kirsty found one of her friends who could foster for us.  So we waited till she arrived fresh of the plane from a business trip!  She has a big home and could take six kitties!!!!  She took all the boys and the two girls we had originally as they were no longer happy to have the other girls in their pen.  I could have kissed her. 

One of the girls is litteraly emaciated and has severe diarhea but she is eating a lot.  Once she is calmer I will take her home and get her to the vets.  Another has some old wounds and gave me some nice new ones (ouch) but amazingly in the big run she is the most friendly.  The big beefy tabby girl is grumpy but such and attractive cat.  The longhair is really matted and filthy with poop but we decided to leave her till she was calmer and deal with it.  The two other tabbies are in good shape but just really terrified. 

My two boys go to their new home on Sunday and Kathy still has two girls with her.  The really poopy girl may have a home lined up for when she is better.  No cats went to the Cat Haven and Kathy is taking back the carriers she borrowed from them empty, yay!!!.  I also got a call tonight from a lovley lady from SAFE Perth who want to know how they can help support us. 

Thank you to everyone who has been kind enough to help and offer support.  It means so much.  Sorry about the terrible spelling.  My friends all know that when I am tired my spelling goes out the window and I swear a lot so at least there were no profanities!!!

Operation Kitty Rescue - Up they all come!!!

The cats are all coming up to Perth from Bunbury.  Kathy drove all the way there and back to get them to safety.  She is an angel.  We have found a foster home for four of them and today I have had a few more people offer to adopt them.  If we cant get them homes they will end up at the Cat Haven which would be very sad.

Isnt this amazing to see.  She is in her new home and already relaxing.  She is still a bit shy but Moira thinks she will come out of her shell real soon.  So happy!!

Operation Kitty Rescue - Donation info if you can help

I have had lots of people asking how to donate for the rescue cats. The SAFE coordinator for that region is on holiday this week so I cannot track down an account.

The Secretary of the Birman, Rex & Others Club called me today to ask after the rescues and as we were chatting the President of our club droped in to visit her so with me as Treasurer we had our clubs exec right there. We were thinking of using our clubs account but we have a show happening and the funds would get mixed up. Then I remembered we have a second empty account that has no money in it so we agrred to use it as a place to collect funds. We can then write a check and give the names of the contributers to SAFE Bunbury.
